
Rick Cashatt is Chief Executive Officer of North Star Renewable Energy, a company that develops biomass fueled renewable energy projects in the southeast. His develop model is a hybrid of renewable energy production and economic develop where job creation in rural communities is a priority. Most recently, North Star developed on behalf of a Virginia investor a 17 Mw biomass fired renewable energy project in Rabun Gap, Georgia. The project has been providing electrical energy to Green Power EMC, the renewable energy company of Georgia’s cooperatives since January 30, 2010. North Star also develops technologies which further refine biomass as a fuel by reducing moisture content mechanically.
Rick also owns North Star Development which serves the power industry as a business developer for both renewable and fossil energy projects. North Star’s list of clients include Calpine, Skygen Energy, Summit Energy and Metso Power, a Finnish boiler technology company who manufacturers both bubbling bed and circulating fluidized bed technology.
