Jim is a financial architect, adept at identifying and securing innovative solutions to finance commercial real estate, multifamily, industrial and government owned and supported development projects. As a skilled and very experienced negotiator, Jim is able to manage client and investor expectations to facilitate mutual agreements and to assure the closing of the most complicated transactions.

Spanning the last 20 years, having served as a mortgage broker and as the owner of Focustar Mortgage, LLC, and EverGreen Rooms by Hartford, Inc., a leasing-based hotel products company, Jim has earned the trust of his clients, and strategic partners alike that enables him to build and manage appropriate team members to insure the success of project closings and sustainable profitability post closing. Jim has built his firm based upon this reputation and as a result has never advertised relying solely upon referrals from clients, and strategic alliances.

To date, Jim has managed project financings in over $750 Million of renewable energy projects within the U.S.

As a Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist, Jim holds his North Carolina Mortgage Broker's License and the North Carolina Mortgage Loan Officer's License. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and serves as a member of the banking committee for the Brunswick County North Carolina Economic Development Commission.

Jim is regularly invited to sit on active panel discussions to share his insights on deal structure, packaging, capitalization, project management, negotiations and managing personal expectations.
