Ann Wilkie

Dr. Ann C. Wilkie is an Associate Professor in the Soil and Water Science Department at the University of Florida-Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in Gainesville, Florida. Her specialty is environmental biotechnology, with particular emphasis on anaerobic processes and biomass to biofuel conversion. Dr. Wilkie is an internationally recognized expert in biogas technology and has conducted leading research on the practical application of anaerobic digestion for waste treatment and renewable energy production from biomass and organic residues, including livestock waste, bioethanol and biodiesel by-products, and other waste streams. Dr. Wilkie is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Biomass and Bioenergy and is a frequent guest speaker at national and international conferences dealing with biofuels, climate change and sustainability issues. She is the recipient of the 2008 Florida Energy Achievement Award, presented by the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), for her extensive work in alternative energy and her leadership in promoting awareness and understanding of renewable energy and sustainable practices in the State of Florida.
